EXPERTISE
Dedicated to Excellence
With our understanding about your eyes, we will provide honest and personal
recommendations to best meet your vision care needs.
Comprehensive Eye Exams
Your vision exam emphasizes the health and function of your eyes. This includes testing your side
vision and dilating your eyes as needed. Your eyes tell an incredible amount about your physical
health and lifestyle. These procedures help your doctors to look for any health conditions which
can affect your eyes.
Ortho-K Lenses
Correct your vision while you sleep. Specially designed Ortho-K contact lenses worn during
sleep will maintain clear daytime vision without glasses or contacts. Ortho-K lenses have been
shown to slow the progression of nearsightedness. Ortho-K can be a non-invasive alternative to
laser eye surgery.
Dry Eye Therapy
If you have uncomfortable, irritated, or sandy eyes, you could have one of
many different forms of dry eyes. After an extensive evaluation, Dr. Fan and
Dr. Shih tailor treatment according to a patient's type of dry eyes and lifestyle.
The doctors are adept in the management of dissolvable and non-dissolvable punctal
plugs which retain more of your natural tears in your eyes.
Refractive Surgery Co-management
Even though LASIK refractive surgery has become ever more popular in the media,
Dr. Fan and Dr. Shih take your decision for laser surgery very seriously.
The doctors will conduct an extensive examination, medical history, and assessment
of your expectations to determine whether refractive surgery will most likely
be successful. Our collaboration with renowned surgeons in Portland will facilitate
referral and after-care.
Both doctors have recently had LASIK refractive
surgery at Pacific Cataract and
Laser Institute (PCLI).
Children's Vision Exams
Couple of Eyes offers comprehensive children and infant vision exams. Assuring
healthy and normal vision in children is critical for normal visual and learning
development.
Specialty Contact Lens Services
Contact lenses are now made for virtually every prescription and lifestyle.
Contact lenses can help control your child's near-sightedness and they can even
replace those reading glasses. Whether you wish to wear color contacts for a
special occasion, or sleep in your contacts occasionally, there are probably
contact lenses available for you.
Cataract Extraction
Co-management
Cataracts are opacities of the crystalline lens of the eye, commonly caused
by accumulation of UV exposure throughout the course of a lifetime. When cataracts
begin to significantly impair vision, cataract removal is usually recommended.
Cataract extraction surgery is an out-patient procedure which involves removal
of the natural crystalline lens and its replacement with a plastic intra-ocular
lens. Dr. Fan and Dr. Shih will evaluate your risks and benefits of this procedure
and will carefully monitor your recovery. We coordinate with trusted surgeons
in Portland to ensure the best
possible surgical experience and outcome.
Diabetic Eye Exams
Twenty-four million people in this country live with diabetes, according to the American Diabetes Association. One of the most easily overlooked complications of diabetes is its effects on the eyes and vision. A diabetic eye exam by an eye care professional monitors the effects of medications and lifestyle enhancement. Dr. Fan and Dr. Shih routinely monitor for diabetic complications in the eyes.
Glaucoma Co-management
Dr. Fan and Dr. Shih examine every patient for glaucoma, an optic nerve disease which robs peripheral vision. Your exam will involve measuring eye pressure, testing peripheral vision, and assessing the health of your optic nerves. If we are suspicious that you may be developing glaucoma, additional advanced testing may be required, including digital analysis of the optic nerves. Dr. Fan and Dr. Shih routinely communicate with specialists and physicians to initiate glaucoma therapy and monitor its effectiveness.
